Tips on Responding to Poetry:
Read (or listen to the audio link below) and allow the words to simply sit with you and sink in.
Maybe choose your favourite line or a few words that resonate.
Set a timer for 5 minutes, pick up a notebook and write anything that comes to mind.
Hope
I remember the day you lost your hope,
The light left your eyes,
You continued through the same motions,
But something was dead inside.
Your words said this was going to be exciting,
Today we get to have fun,
But your tone and expression lacked conviction,
Our belief in your words was gone.
You once taught us the world was our oyster,
You nurtured ambitions, asked about dreams,
You exposed us to a world of opportunity,
Anything was possible it seemed.
I remember the day I lost my hope,
I can even tell you the cause,
For the day I lost my inner light
was the same day you lost yours.
